Backup OverviewLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

You find this function in the DBA Cockpit when navigating to Backup and Recovery → Backup Overview.

The Backup/Restore Information transaction collects and presents information that is necessary to monitor database backups. It is an important source of information for the database administrator who has the task of supervising the execution of a defined backup strategy. Information on jobs scheduled in boththe Planning Calendar and the SQL Server Management Studio is displayed.

In any of the DBA Cockpit screens you can choose the button Full Screen On/Off to either add or hide the left navigational frame.

The following information is displayed in the main Overview screen:

Group Description

SAP Database Backup Details

This group box displays database backup details of SAP database. The last successful full backup date, backup size and backup duration. Displays also the date of the last successful differential and Transaction Log backup

Master And Msdb Database Backup Details

The last successful backup of msdb and master databases

Transaction Log Space Details

This group box displays the log space allocated and the available free log space. The Recovery interval, which specifies the maximum time that SQL Server should spend recovering after a database startup.

Note

When you look at the amount of free space specified for logs, keep in mind that the data displayed reflects snapshots taken at a specific point of time. Since logs are backed up and truncated at hourly intervals, a large amount of free space might be displayed because the log has just been truncated.

Failed CCMS Jobs

This table displays the failed CCMS jobs in the last week

SQL Server Agent Status

Displays whether the SQL Server agent service is running or not
