This documentation is for developers who want to integrate extended table maintenance into their own developments. This section tells you how to use the function modules in the Extended Table Maintenance transaction (SM30), in your program.
Using Extended Table Maintenance is described in the section Customizing (BC-CUS).
The extended table maintenance lets you edit table data in a standard maintenance dialog, whether data is accessed directly in the table, or from a view defined in the dictionary.
Putting the maintenance dialog in your own developments simplifies access to table contents, and has the following advantages:
The programming effort required is considerably reduced.
The handling is standard, and is comprehensible and user-friendly.
The user-friendliness is a result of the comprehensive functionality, which makes maintenance procedures comprehensible and transparent.
The maintenance dialog lets you see table data on two levels. You can go to a detail screen for a selected entry in the overview screen.
You can use the entire standard maintenance dialog, or make table or view-specific adjustments
