Accessing Documents Using WebDavLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

You can directly access documents in SAP Enterprise Portal using WebDav-capable PC applications. WebDAV is supported by Microsoft → Windows → and Microsoft → Office →, for example.

Procedure

If you are working with WebDAV-capable applications, you can change documents directly on the server. You do not need to download the documents in question to your PC first. If, for example, you want to change a document in Microsoft Word →, choose Start of the navigation path File  Next navigation step Open End of the navigation path and enter the target URL of the document in the File Name field.

The URL of a document can be found in its Details dialog box under Start of the navigation path Settings  Next navigation step  Properties  Next navigation step Access Links  Next navigation step Target URL End of the navigation path.

You can also include the Content Management folder in which the document is stored as a Web folder on your local PC. Then navigate in Windows → to the document via My Network Places . For more information, see Including a Knowledge Management Folder as a Web Folder .

Note

The Windows settings for the file type in question dictate the way in which a file of a particular file type is opened. To change these settings, choose Start of the navigation path Tools Next navigation step Folder Options Next navigation step File Types End of the navigation path in the Windows Explorer. For more information, see the documentation for Windows.
