You have created communication profiles. The profile must have at least one active version. For more information, see Preparing Communication Profiles
You have accessed the provider system list. For more information, see Creating Connections to Provider Systems
You can create new connections to provider systems that use Web services connectivity (WS connectivity) or remote function call connectivity (RFC connectivity). The established system connections use a SOAP protocol or an RFC destination respectively.
This way all information about the selected system is copied to the new provider system connection.

The configuration tools examine the system landscape directory ID (SLD ID) of the connected provider system and thus recognize whether the system is local (the same system) or remote (a distant system). For AS Java provider systems, the SLD ID comprises the system ID (SID) and the database host. The database host name must be compliant with the SLD definition, for example the real host name of the database, excluding the domain but not localhost .
To enable local transport for Web services on a provider system, you have to assign a communication profile that is configured to use local transport.
