Activity Reporting in a Federated Portal NetworkLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

Content usage mode: remote role assignment, remote delta link

Applies to: producers, consumers

Note

The functionality described in this topic does not apply to an SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment system without usage type EP Core - Application Portal (EPC).

SAP NetWeaver Portal allows administrators to gather and display statistics about portal activity, such as which users accessed the portal, what content they viewed, and how long the portal took to process requests. The data collected for the statistics depends on the tool being used. For more information about this functionality, see Activity Reporting .

The activity reporting tools in the portal gather information on the local portal where the content is rendered. In a federated portal network (FPN), the content is rendered either on the producer portal or the consumer portal depending on the content usage mode:

  • Remote Role Assignment (RRA)

Activity data is generated on the portal which executes the content. In remote role assignment, the role is located on the producer portal, thus causing the activity on the consumer portal to be registered on the producer portal.

  • Remote Delta Links (RDL)

Activity data is generated on the portal which consumes the content. By creating a remote delta link, a delta link object is created on the consumer portal. At runtime, the activity of this copied object is registered on the consumer portal.

Note

Some exceptions regarding activity statistics with RRA and RDL usage are described in SAP Note 1516242 Information published on SAP site.
