Use

You can use the Development Infrastructure: Configuration Management user interface, also known as Configuration Service UI, to manage development configurations.

UI Layout

After opening the UI you see a list of available development configurations that are managed in the system, provided development configurations have already been created.

In the Display Development Configurations area you have the following options:

  • You can create standalone developments configurations for your local Java development. Choose Create New.

For more information, see Creating Standalone Development Configurations.

  • Using the Download Development Configuration link you can download the version of the development configuration that was last saved as an XML file.

  • You can select a development configuration from the list to be able to check or change the data. The message that development configuration was loaded successfully appears on the top half of the screen. To edit the development configuration, choose Edit.

In the Edit Development Configurations area you have the following options:

  • Using Save you can save the changes you have made.

  • Using Cancel you can cancel the process and reload the development configuration.

  • You can delete standalone development configurations by choosing Delete.

The name of the development configuration is displayed as write-protected in the middle screen area. You can specify a caption of the development configuration or change a preexisting one.

In the Copy to Overwrite Local Settings and Software Component Definition area, you can copy the definition of a development configuration to the development configuration that is currently loaded.

For more information, see Copy Settings of an Existing Development Configuration.

In the Software Landscape Directory, Settings, and Software Component Definition area you can display and modify the settings for the loaded development configuration using the tab page.

To save the changes, choose Save.

If you do not save the changes and want to reset the development configuration properties to their previous status, select Cancel.

Note

Some data cannot be changed. This includes development configuration data in particular that was created in the TMS (type CTS_System), for example, this includes the communication user and password for the Build Tool Location and the Repository Location, as well as the type of the runtime system, host, post, user, and password for runtime systems. You can modify the related values in TMS (transaction STMS).

Tab page: System Landscape Directory

Note

Data on the System Landscape Directory tab page (SLD URL, user, password, and URL of the CM Services) can only be changed if a development configuration that was created in the TMS does not exist.

Ensure that the specified System Landscape Directory is the same for all development configuration that are managed on this system. Therefore you should only enter the data once and not make any further changes after that. For changes you should ensure that all software components are available in the new System Landscape Directory and that the specified user and password are valid there.

On this tab page you can specify the URL to the System Landscape Directory, as well as the user that is used for logging on to the SLD, and the relevant password for standalone development configurations. For development confifurations that were created in the TMS you must specify this data in the TMS when creating a non-ABAP system with development configurations. You can only make changes in the TMS.

The CM Services URL contains the server where the CM Services run.

Tab page: Local Settings

On this tab page, you can perform the following settings:

Tab Page: Software Component Definition

On the Software Component Definition tab page you can assign software components that are to be developed in the development component or remove assigned software components.

You can take the information on the vendor, name, software component release, whether the software component is to be developed, whether you are dealing wiht a product-describing software component, as well as the caption and the description of a software component from the list.

If the To Be Developed checkbox is selected then the software component can be developed in the development configuration.

The Product Definition column cannot be changed. If the checkbox is selected, you are dealing with a product-describing software component that was defined as such in the System Landscape Directory.

If you click on the triangle symbol in the first column that relates to a software component, then you can display those software components that are dependent on the selected software component.

You can also classify dependent software components as To Be Developed by selecting the checkbox. In this case the dependent software component is also displayed as a root node of its own.

You cannot change dependencies between software components in the Configuration Service. This is only possible in the System Landscape Directory.

The following functions are available:

  • Using Add SC you can assign a new software component.

  • You can delete a software component by choosing Remove SC.

  • With the Check SCs you can check whether the dependencies of the software components that are contained in the development configuration match the dependencies in the System Landscape Directory.

For more information, see Assigning Software Components.
