 Testing and Activating a StatusLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

Testing allows you to check a simulation of the status as it will appear at runtime. The system always uses the inactive version of the status.

Caution

Changes to a GUI status become visible in your application only when you reactivate the status.

Procedure

Testing a Status

  1. Open the Repository Browser and navigate to the corresponding GUI status.
  2. Double-click on the GUI status.

    The maintenance screen of the Menu Painter appears.

  3. Choose User Interface Test.

    The system displays the Status Simulation dialog box.

  4. Enter a screen number and title if you want to simulate a whole screen.
    Note

    If you do not enter a screen number, the system simulates the status using an empty test screen.

  5. Choose  Execute.

    A dialog box that contains the window coordinates appears.

  6. Choose  with the quick info text Continue.

    The system simulates your status.

Checking the GUI Status

The system allows you to perform Syntax, Consistency and Ergonomics checks.

  • To check your GUI status, choose User Interface → Check and then choose the corresponding check.

    The system displays the results of each check sorted by priority.

  • To see the general description of all possible errors, position the cursor on one of the Priority nodes and choose  with the quick info text Error Documentation.

Activating a Status

To activate a status, choose  with the quick info text Activate.

When you activate a status, the system automatically checks for syntax errors.

Caution

You must correct all syntax errors in your GUI status before activating it.
