Synchronizing Remote Delta Link ContentLocate this document in the navigation structure

Prerequisites

You have access to the federated portal administration tools in the standard System Admin role on your portal.

Context

Content usage mode: remote delta link

Applies to: consumers

Note

The functionality described in this topic does not apply to an SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment system without usage type EP Core - Application Portal (EPC).

The cache settings in the OriginalContentSynConsumerService service define the frequency at which remote delta link content on the producer is updated with modifications made to their source objects on a producer portal. For more information, see Configuring the Federated Portal Cache on the Consumer Portal .

This topic describes how to manually synchronize the remote delta link content on the consumer with their corresponding source objects on the producer.

Note
  • An administrator on the producer portal cannot initiate a content update with its registered consumer portals. It can only be initiated from the consumer portal.

  • Clearing the remote role assignment cache also has an effect on specific remote delta link use cases. For more information, see Clearing the Remote Role Assignment Cache .

  • For information about how to specify how the portal deals with remote delta link content on a consumer after a system administrator has removed an FPN connection, see Setting the Content Invalidation Policy for Remote Delta Link .

Caution
  • Synchronization can be a very time consuming process, especially if you have consumed large amounts of remote delta link content.

  • After synchronizing the cache, portal users must restart any live portal sessions to receive the latest updates.

Procedure

  1. In the consumer portal, navigate to Start of the navigation path System Administration Next navigation step Federated Portal Next navigation step  SAP NetWeaver - FPN Connections Next navigation step  Control Panel End of the navigation path.
  2. Choose the Cache and Content Synchronization tab.
  3. In the Manual Synchronization of Remote Delta Link Content section, do the following:
    1. Choose the level of content you want to synchronize by selecting either Synchronize only modified content or Synchronize all content .

      Note

Synchronizing modified content only is recommended; if you have consumed large amounts of content, synchronizing all content can take a long time to complete.

    2. Choose the producers with which you want to synchronize content by selecting either Synchronize with all producers or Synchronize with a selected producer and then choosing the alias of the producer.

    3. Click Synchronize Content .
