Analyzing the Performance While Being Connected to the DatabaseLocate this document in the navigation structure

Context

These are the main steps for analyzing the performance while being connected to the database:

Procedure

  1. Start Database Studio.
  2. Connect to a database.
  3. Make sure there exists Database Analyzer data regarding the time interval you want to analyze. Maybe data is collected right at the moment (for example if Database Analyzer is running). See Starting or Stopping Database Analyzer or Starting Database Analyzer Charts for details.
  4. Navigate to the Database Analyzer log files directory. Right-click on the folder Diagnosis Files and choose Extended File List from the context menu to make the subdirectory Database Analyzer File visible. The subdirectory Database Analyzer File contains all Database Analyzer files (in CSV format, one directory for each day).
  5. Choose one or more log files for analyzing.
  6. Select a CSV file for display (double click).
  7. The contents of the file appear in the display area for log files, and a list of all columns appears to the right of the display area.
  8. Select columns for charting (from the column list).
  9. Choose a time span for charting.
  10. Compare data with widespread value ranges (second ordinate with different scale).
  11. Check data (same time span) against data from other CSV files.
  12. Export charts to image files.
  13. Open, edit and save metrics.
