Creating Business Function SetsLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

Use this procedure to create business function sets in transaction SFW3. In this transaction you can:

  • Create business function sets and assign business functions to them.
  • Maintain the attributes required to switch on an assigned business function (transaction SFW5 ) as well as to upgrade the system.
  • Display all conflicts that result from the enhancement implementations in a business function set.
Procedure
  1. Start transaction SFW3.
    Note

You can also use the Object Navigator (transaction SE80) to create business functions. To do so, in the context menu of a package, choose Start of the navigation path Create Next navigation step Other (2) Next navigation step Business Set End of the navigation path.

  2. Specify the name of your new business function set and fill in the other required fields.
  3. Classify the business function set as selectable or insertable.

Both types can act as containers for other business function sets, but on the highest level you need a selectable business function set.

  4. Choose the Business Functions tab and assign business functions to this set.
    1. In the Business Function column, specify one or more existing business functions that you want to assign to this business function set.
    2. Select one or more of the following options:
      Option Name Description

      No Display

      Always on

The business function is always switched on in a business function set.

      Upgrade

The business function is switched on during an upgrade when the business function set is switched on. Upgrade here means a change from a release with an IS solution to a release using the Switch Framework.

This flag must be set for all business functions that contain objects which were previously part of the IS solution. This is to make sure that no function gets lost in the process of upgrading. This flag must not be set for business functions that contain new functions (for example, by offering business functions of another business function set).

    3. In the Business Functions tab toolbar, choose Check Entries .

The system checks whether you have specified all the parameters correctly.

  5. If necessary, choose the Business Function Sets tab and assign superordinate or subordinate business function sets to the current business function set.

In the Comments column, you see an explanatory text if the assignment is defined in a superordinate or subordinate business function set.

  6. Select the new business functions set and choose Activate .

After all prerequisites are met, the system sets an Active status to your business function set. Refresh the transaction to see the updated status.

Result

Using this procedure you have created a new business function set, assigned business functions to it, and activated the set for further usage.
