Purpose

The SAP CCMS Technical Expert Monitors monitor set contains the most important monitors for problem analysis and for monitoring the monitoring architecture.

Features

The monitors of the set have the following functions:

Monitor Topic

All Contexts on Local Application Server

The monitor contains all contexts of the local application server.

A monitoring context is the uppermost node of a monitoring tree and contains all associated monitoring objects and monitoring attributes. A context is unique both in a segment and at system level; it can be defined as system-wide or within an application server.

All Monitoring Contexts

This monitor contains all contexts of the current system.

This monitor contains the same data as the System / All Monitoring Segments / All Monitoring Contexts monitors (see below), however the data is broken down by different topics (the contexts) and not by the instances (monitoring segments) that deliver the values.

CCMS Selfmonitoring

This monitor displays the status of the monitoring architecture and the Alert Monitor.

GRMG Selfmonitoring

The monitor displays the status of the Monitoring with the Generic Request and Message Generator.

Method Dispatching

This monitor displays the messages of the method dispatchers, allowing you to observe the error-free execution of the data collection methods.

Remote Application Server Status

The monitor displays the availability of individual application servers. The monitoring is performed by the instance agent (see Infrastructure of the NetWeaver Management Agents).

Selfmonitoring CCMS Agents

This monitor displays the most important data for the CCMS agents in your IT landscape.

System / All Monitoring Segments / All Monitoring Contexts

This monitor contains all monitoring segments with all contexts of the current system.

A monitoring segment is the memory area in shared memory of an instance that the monitoring architecture uses for all active contexts and collected monitoring attributes. A monitoring segment includes all active components and data.

To start one of these monitors, follow the procedure below:

  1. Start the Alert Monitor using transaction RZ20 or choose CCMS →Control/Monitoring →Alert Monitor.
  2. On the CCMS Monitor Sets screen, expand the SAP CCMS Monitor Templates set.
  3. Start the desired monitor from the list by double-clicking it.
Restrictions

You cannot change monitors delivered by SAP. However, to use one of the monitors in this set as a template for your own monitor, first copy the desired monitor (see also Copying, Renaming, and Deleting Monitors).
