Loading MDMP Code Page Information into a Unicode SystemLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

For smooth IDoc communication between MDMP and Unicode systems, you need to make the code pages used in the MDMP system known to the Unicode system. You do this from the Unicode system using transaction WE87, irrespective of whether the Unicode system is the sender or recipient.

Prerequisites

If data is to be sent from the Unicode system, you need to make the following settings:

There must be a corresponding tRFC port in transaction WE21, which, in turn, requires an RFC destination for the MDMP system created in transaction SM59. This destination for the MDMP system must have an explicit logon language.

Procedure

To make the code pages used in the MDMP system known to the Unicode system, proceed as follows:

  1. Start transaction WE87.

  2. Decide whether the Unicode system is sending data (outbound) or receiving data (inbound). You can use the Inbound <-> Outbound pushbutton to switch between the assignment table for inbound and outbound.

    • For outbound, select a port from the list that exists in transaction WE21, and in turn uses an RFC destination for the MDMP system created in transaction SM59.

    • For inbound, create entries by directly specifying an RFC destination that points to the MDMP system.

Result

You have made the code pages used in the MDMP system known to the Unicode system.

If the Unicode system is the sending system, you also need to call transaction WE86 to determine the language fields.
