IDoc Communication Between Unicode Systems and MDMP SystemsLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

You require the following information to connect Unicode SAP systems and MDMP SAP systems using the IDoc interface. The aim is to support messages that contain segments with different code pages. To achieve this, a new parallel interface was delivered that contains two new transactions ( WE86, WE87) and a new report ( RSEOUT00_MDMP).

Prerequisites
  • This method of connection is available in releases as of SAP Basis 4.6C. For SAP systems with a release up to SAP NetWeaver 04s (inclusive), both SAP systems must have one of the following Support Package statuses:

    Release

    Support Package

    4.6C

    SAPKB46C55

    6.20

    SAPKB62063

    6.40

    SAPKB64021

    7.00

    SAPKB70014

In all subsequent releases, this new interface is included in the standard system.

  • The solution is only supported for IDocs that are collected in the outbox, do not need to be sent in a qRFC queue, and are not to be processed by the IDoc Adapter in XI.

Integration

To make it easier to understand, the Customizing is explained first below, and then the runtime.

IDocs are transferred between an MDMP system and a Unicode system using tRFC.

During the conversion between Unicode and other code pages, the RFC behaves in such a way that the conversion of the code page takes place in the Unicode system, using the language information. With this new communication, this language information is provided in an additional field. It is therefore important that a setting is made in the sending system that specifies the field in which the language information is stored for language-dependent segments. You make this setting in transaction WE86.

You also need to inform the Unicode system which code pages are used in the MDMP system. You do this in transaction WE87.

The process at runtime is as follows:

You cannot send the IDocs in the usual way, but rather need to use the report RSEOUT00_MDMP. This means that you have control of the IDocs that are first only generated and collected in the system, and only then sent using this extra report. During the transfer, both the values of the Customizing tables for language fields (L) and for the code pages used in the MDMP system (C) are taken into account.

Activities

To ensure smooth communication between the Unicode and MDMP systems, you need to have performed the following activities:

  • You need to have made the code pages used in the MDMP known to the Unicode system. You do this from the Unicode system using transaction WE87, irrespective of whether the Unicode system is the sender or recipient. More detailed information: Loading MDMP Code Page Information into a Unicode System.

  • In the sending system in each case, you need to set the field that contains the language information for language-dependent segments. You do this in the sender system in transaction WE86. Detailed information: Determining Language Fields.
