Monitoring Exports and ImportsLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

You can monitor the process flow of exports and imports. Export and import information is written to log files that you can call, check, and evaluate during running transports or after they finish.

Procedure

Calling Export and Import Information

During the transport, a transport package can have the following statuses:

  • Planned

  • Running

  • Completed

You can find relevant information about each status of an export or import in the overviews. For example, you can call up the number of transported items, the size of the transported items, or the duration of the process.

Information Displayed in the Overviews

Column

Description

Name

This column contains the name of the transport process as specified in the export form.

Created By

This column contains the user that created the transport package.

Created

This column contains the time of the creation of the transport package.

Archive

This column contains a Download link that you can use to download the transport package.

System ID

This column contains the system ID of the portal node where the export was triggered.

Log

This column contains a Display link that you can use to call up the log file. If errors occurred during the export or import process, this column displays the number of errors. To call up the log files with details or the errors, choose the nErrors link.

Items

This column tells you the number of items in the transport package.

Progress

This column displays the progress of the current process. The transport process goes through the following progress states:

  • Exporting - the selected content is being exported to the server file system. If you refresh the display during this process, the entries in the Items and Size columns increase.

  • Compressing - the exported content is being compressed in an archive file. A progress bar with a percentage counter informs you about the progress of the process.

  • Sending (only in CTS mode) - the archive file is being transferred to the CTS. A progress bar with a percentage counter informs you about the progress of this process.

  • Importing - the content is being imported to the server file system. A progress bar with a percentage counter informs you about the progress of this process.

The progress values are recalculated every five seconds. If a transport is terminated, the status change is displayed after ten seconds.

Size

This column tells you the size of the transport package, which is composed of the individual files and the corresponding metadata (properties, ACLs, and so on).

The specification is in kilobytes.

Duration

This column tells you the duration of the export or import process in seconds.

You can call information on a transport request, the items contained in it, and its filter settings whenever you want by choosing the name of the transport request in question.

Calling up the Log Files

The log files contain detailed information and the time stamp. To call up a log file for an export or import, choose Display in the Log column.

The log file records status information for each transported item as follows.

  • Exported - the item was successfully exported.

  • Imported - the item was successfully imported.

  • Skipped - the item was recognized as not being relevant for the transport because of a filter setting. It was therefore not transported.

  • Error - the item was not transported because an error occurred.
