Clearing the Remote Role Assignment CacheLocate this document in the navigation structure

Prerequisites

You are assigned to the portal role that contains the Federated Portal workset. By default this is the System Administration role.

The functionality described in this topic does not apply to an SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment system without usage type EP Core - Application Portal (EPC).

The Cache Lifetime setting in the Content Cache and Content Synchronization tab in the FPN Control Panel, and the properties in the FederatedPortalCache service define the frequency at which the cache of remotely assigned roles is cleared automatically. For more information, see Configuring the Federated Portal Cache on the Consumer Portal ).

This topic describes how to manually clear the cached roles that you have consumed through remote role assignment before their cache lifetime expectancy has been reached. For example, if you know that a producer has updated content you are consuming, you can clear the cache to ensure that all data changes are immediately updated on your consumer and that your users are working with the most up-to-date content.

Note

Clearing remotely assigned roles from the cache also affects certain remote delta link use cases:

  • If a content administrator on the consumer portal has made a change to an application property in a SAP transaction iView, the administrator should clear the cache manually before the cache lifetime expectancy has been reached, so that business users run the iView with the most up-to-date values.

  • The Remote FPN Producers folder in the Portal Catalog displays remote content exposed by producer and allows a content administrator to create remote delta link content on the consumer portal. If you are having problems when viewing content in this folder, such as content not updating itself or the Portal Catalog showing no content after refreshing, then you can use the Clear feature to try to resolve the problem.

Caution
  • After you clear the cache, portal users may notice an initial increase in the time it takes for remotely assigned role content to be retrieved from the producer portal. As the cache is rebuilt on the consumer over time, runtime performance improves.

  • Users must restart any live portal sessions to receive the latest updates after an administrator clears the cache.

Procedure

  1. In the consumer portal, navigate to Start of the navigation path System Administration Next navigation step Federated Portal Next navigation step  SAP NetWeaver - FPN Connections Next navigation step  Control Panel End of the navigation path.
  2. Choose the Cache and Content Synchronization tab.
  3. In the Clear Content Consumed by Remote Role Assignment section, choose Clear Cache .
