Creating WSRP Connections to ProducersLocate this document in the navigation structure

Content usage mode: WSRP application sharing

Applies to: consumers

The functionality described in this topic does not apply to an SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment system without usage type EP Core - Application Portal (EPC).

This topic describes how to create a WSRP connection, on your SAP NetWeaver consumer portal, to reference a remote WSRP-compliant (non-SAP or SAP NetWeaver) producer portal.

Alternatively, a system administrator can use an XML script to create a WSRP connection on the consumer portal. For more information, see Using XML to Automate Federated Portal Network Tasks .

  • You have obtained the URL to the WSDL file that is located on the remote producer portal.

  • You are assigned to the portal role that contains the Federated Portal workset. By default this is the System Administration role.

  • You have administrator read-write permission for the Portal Catalog in the WSRP Content Producers folder.

  1. In the consumer portal, navigate to Start of the navigation path System Administration Next navigation step Federated Portal Next navigation step  Non-SAP - WSRP Connections Next navigation step  Manage My WSRP Producers End of the navigation path.

  2. In the Portal Catalog, right-click the WSRP Content Producers folder (or any of its subfolders), and then from the context menu, choose Start of the navigation path New Next navigation step WSRP Producer End of the navigation path.

The WSRP Producer wizard is launched.

    • You cannot create a WSRP producer object elsewhere in the Portal Catalog.

    • Once you have created a producer object, you cannot move it to another folder. Removing a WSRP producer results in loss of personalized data.

  3. Complete the wizard while taking note of the following:

    Additional Information

    General Properties

Enter the general properties of the producer portal.

    • The name you give to the producer portal is the name of the semantic object that will be displayed in the Portal Catalog when the producer has been created.

    • The portal automatically generates an alias for the producer from its producer portal ID. This alias is used in various user interfaces in the portal to represent the producer portal. Since you cannot modify a producer alias, we recommend you enter a producer ID that clearly identifies the producer. For example, copy the producer name to the producer ID and add _producer as the suffix.

If the alias already exists in your portal, an underscore is as a suffix to the producer ID until a unique alias is formed.

    Define Producer URL

Enter the full URL of the WSDL definition file that is located on the remote producer portal:

    • The WSRP URL for an SAP NetWeaver producer must comprise the protocol, host name, and port number of the remote producer.

    • The WSRP URL for a non-SAP producer must comprise a full path to the published WSDL file on the remote producer. For example: http://<IP_address>:<port>/wps/wsdl/wsrp_service.wsdl

If the producer you are connecting to uses a reverse proxy, the host address and port must specify the reverse proxy address.
