Use

When the message monitor is in basic search mode, you can find a message only by status or within a specific time period. To find a message by specific information contained in the message header or the payload, you can activate the advanced search options. This allows you to reduce the number of messages displayed in the monitor so that you can see only those messages in which you are interested.

Prerequisites
  • The user account you use should be assigned to one of the Process Integration monitoring roles. For more information about which roles allow you to view and modify messages, see Monitoring Roles .

  • You have accessed the message monitor. For more information, see Monitoring Messages .

Features
  • Message Header Data

This search option allows you to specify the component, party, and interface of the sender and receiver of the messages you want to find.

  • User-Defined Selection Criteria

Use this option when you want to find messages by information contained in their payload or their dynamic header. You need to specify both the message part you want to find and its value as described below:

    • Each part of the message you want to find must be defined in advance as search criteria for a filter. For more information, see Configuring User-Defined Message Search .

To add a search criterion, you should choose Add Pre-defined or Add Custom . The first option allows you to choose an interface and one of its search criteria. The second option allows you to simply enter the name of a search criterion.

    • You must enter the value you want to find either when you specify a search criterion, or after that in the Value column of the table. You must enter the exact value you want to find, wildcards are not allowed.

You also need to set in the Search for menu one of the following search modes:

    • If you choose to search for one value, the results depend on whether you have entered one or more pairs of search criteria and values. When there is only one search criterion and value, the system searches for all messages in which the corresponding message part has the specified value. When there are many search criteria and values entered, the system searches for all messages in which at least one of the corresponding message parts appears with one of the values you have specified.

    • If you choose to search for all values and you have entered many pairs of search criteria and values, the system searches for all messages that have all of the corresponding message parts with the specified values.

    Note

You can use user-defined search only for asynchronous messages.

  • Technical Attributes

This search option allows you to find messages whose header contains information about a specific error category, quality of service, or many other technical details.

You can use the Blacklisted option to find messages that are blacklisted. For more information, see Administrator Tasks for Blacklisting .

  • Identifiers

You can search by identifier when you want to find a message by its message ID or reference ID.

    Note

When you search by identifier, the rest of the options for advanced search cannot be used.

Procedure
  1. In the message monitor, choose the Database tab or the Archive tab to start searching for persisted or archived messages.

Before starting the advanced search, you can also set the basic search options. Thus you can restrict the results only to messages with a specific status within a specific time period.

  2. Choose Advanced to display the advanced search options.

You may choose Clear to remove all search options left from previous searches.

  3. Select the checkboxes for the advanced search options you want to use, and enter the necessary information.

With the exception of searching by message identifiers, you can simultaneously use all other advanced search options. Thus you can restrict the results only to messages matching all search details

  4. Choose Go .

Result

The system lists the messages found in a table. You can select a message to see its details. For more information, see Reviewing Search Results .
