Working with Change ListsLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

You can manage changes to objects using change lists ( Change Lists tab page). All objects of a change list are displayed when you open a change list. You can open objects of a change list from within the change list itself.

There are different branches of change lists. The status of an object depends on the branch where an object is located:

  • Open Change Lists

Contain objects in status "In Editing".

As soon as a user saves an object for the first time, the object is included in an open change list. You can activate all objects, of individual ones, from open change lists.

  • Transportable Change Lists

Contain active objects that can be released for transport.

Transportable change lists are only displayed when transport using the Change Management Service is configured.

  • Closed Change Lists

Contain active objects that were released for transport.

If transport using the Change Management Service (CMS) was not configured, closed change lists contains all active objects.

Procedure

You can execute the following tasks with change lists.

Activate Objects

When you edit an object, the object is initially only visible for you (status In Editing ).

Note

An editing symbol is displayed next to the object in the navigation area.

The object becomes visible for all other users once the object is activated.

If you edit an active object again, the object is included in an open change list again once you have saved it. No new object version is generated. As long as an object has not been activated, you can revoke all changes that you have made. This is also applies to deleting objects.

To activate all objects of an open change list, position your cursor on the change list and select Activate in the context menu. If you only want to activate a single object, position the cursor on the object and select Activate in the context menu.

Note

An object is available at runtime as soon as you have activated it in the Integration Directory.

If transport is configured using the Change Management Service, active objects are moved to a transportable change list. Otherwise, active objects are moved to a closed change list.

Reset Changes

To revoke change to all objects of an open change list, position your cursor on the change list and select Delete in the context menu. If you only want to reset the changes for a single object, position the cursor on the object and select Reset Changes in the context menu.

The objects disappear from the open change list.

Release for Transport

To release all objects of a transportable change list for transport, position your cursor on the change list and select Release for Transport in the context menu. If you choose the context menu function "Close Without Transport", the objects are not release for transport and are moved to a closed change list.

Transport lists are displayed alongside transportable change lists in the Transportable Change Lists branch.

Filter Change Lists

In the header of the Change Lists tab page you can show or hide a filter function.

The filter function lets you:

  • Display change lists of different users

  • Define which change lists (branch) are to be displayed

Copy change lists of other users

You can display change lists of other users and copy the objects from the change lists of other others.

To copy a change list of another user, position your cursor on the change list and select Copy in the context menu.

Note

You can only copy an object from the change list of another user if the other user is not editing the object at the same time.
