Use

You can use the operating system monitor to display operating system data from monitored hosts on which an operating system collector SAPOSCOL is running. You have the following options for selecting the data to be displayed:

You can display operating system data for the following topic areas:

Analysis View Description

 CPU

The following data about CPU usage is displayed for every CPU of the host, broken down as percentages by:

  • User
  • System
  • Times in which the CPU had no task to perform or was waiting for an input/output (idle)

Memory

The following values are displayed for each host:

  • Physically existing and free main memory in kilobytes
  • Paging rates (exchange of data pages between the main memory and the overflow storage in a paging file on the hard disk): the number of pages paged-in and paged-out per second with the quantity of data paged-in and paged-out in kilobytes.

 Swap Size

The following values are displayed for each host:

  • Configured and free swap space (storage space on the hard disk to which data that is not required is paged-out of the main memory) in kilobytes
  • Actual and maximum size of the swap space in kilobytes

 Disk

The name and most important performance data is displayed for all physical disks on a host.

 LAN

The name and most important performance data is displayed for all LAN interfaces on a host.

File System

The name, capacity, and free storage space in megabytes is displayed for all file systems on a host.

 TOP 40 CPU Processes

For every host, the most important performance data is displayed for the 40 processes that have used most CPU time.

 Monitored Processes

For every host, the most important performance data is displayed for the processes that are specifically monitored (more information: Monitoring Selected Processes with SAPOSCOL)

 "Operating System" Monitor (RZ20)

The Operating System monitor of the Alert Monitor is displayed.

Note
  • The views  TOP 40 CPU Processes,  Monitored Processes, and "Operating System" Monitor (RZ20) are only available to you in  Snapshot.
  • If you directly select a root node of one of the possible periods,  Snapshot,  Previous Hours, or  History, the system displays a summary of the various topics listed above.
  • Underlined values are text attributes for which a history of values is available; to display the history, choose the relevant value. More information: Creating and Changing Monitors.
