Use

The Logs user menu contains logs of database administration actions.

Procedure

Open the Database Assistant (transaction DB50) or the liveCache Assistant (transaction LC10). Choose Start of the navigation path Troubleshooting Next navigation step Logs Next navigation step DBA History End of the navigation path.

The messages display is part of the DBA Cockpit and can therefore also be called as follows:

  1. Open DBA Cockpit (transaction DBACOCKPIT).

  2. The display options in DBA Cockpit vary depending on which SAP NetWeaver release you are using.

    • Choose Start of the navigation path Diagnosis Next navigation step Messages Next navigation step DBA History End of the navigation path.

    • SAP NetWeaver 7.1: Choose Start of the navigation path Configuration Next navigation step Logs Next navigation step DBA History End of the navigation path.

Result

The content of several Database Manager log files, general log files from the database kernel as well as log files from third-party backup tools (if applicable) over the last three months will be displayed as follows.

Log Area

Logged Data from DBA Actions

Backup/Restore (DBM Server)

Backup and recovery

Log files from the Database Manager and (if applicable) log files from backup tools from other providers are evaluated.

Backup/Restore (Core)

Backup and recovery

Log files from the database kernel are evaluated.

Optimizer Statistics

Optimizer statistics are updated.

Database structure checks

Checking the database structures

Log files from the Database Manager are evaluated.

Archiving Log Backup Files

Archiving the backup files (log backup)

Log files from the Database Manager and (if applicable) log files from backup tools from other providers are evaluated.

You can display additional detailed information for an action (Display Log) by double-clicking it.

If third-party backup tools were used, the log information for these tools is displayed.
