Use

Using the pattern wizard, you can configure the Information Consumer Pattern in accordance with your requirements.

Prerequisites

You are in Web Application Designer and have called the Pattern Wizard as follows:

  1. In the Web Application Designer menu bar, choose Web Template → New.
  2. On the All Patterns and Web Templates tab page, choose BEx Patterns → Information Consumer Pattern (ICP).
Procedure

To configure the pattern, follow the steps as displayed by the pattern wizard:

  1. Design and content of the application toolbar

    In the first step in the wizard, specify whether the pattern will have an application toolbar and whether to display this toolbar in one row or in two. Note that the two-row toolbar provides functions that are not available in the one-line toolbar. In this step, you can also specify which pushbuttons will be displayed initially.

  2. Settings for the dropdown box

    In the second step in the wizard, specify the content for the dropdown box, which is part of every Information Consumer Pattern. Using the open dialog and the text input dialog , enter values for the following elements for each entry in the dropdown box:

    You can also make the following settings:

    • Whether the dropdown box is visible initially
    • Whether the entries in the dropdown box are sorted alphabetically
    • Whether the currently selected filter values are applied when the user switches the entry in the dropdown box

    Note that you need to create at least one row for the dropdown box.

  3. Settings for the filter pane

    In the third step in the wizard, use input help to select the characteristic values that you want to display in the filter pane in the executed Web application.

  4. Miscellaneous settings

    In the fourth and final step in the wizard, make the following additional settings for the pattern:

    • General settings

      You can specify whether the variable screen is displayed and whether the function for the report-report interface is used in the pattern. If you select the Report-Report Interface checkbox, this is displayed as an entry in the Web application context menu.

    • Title settings

      You can specify whether the Information Consumer Pattern is displayed with a title. You can use the query description as the title or create a language-specific text using the text input dialog.

    • Size settings for reusable Web item

      You can specify the width and height of the Web item for data display (analysis or chart). For the Analysis Web item, you can also specify how many rows are to be displayed in the table. If you leave these fields blank, the default settings are applied.

    • Additional Web templates

      Here, you can specify Web templates for the header or footer areas in the executed Web application. You can use these Web templates to integrate logos into the Web application, for example. 

    To complete the configuration of the pattern, you have the following options:

    • Save As…

      Using this option, you can save the edited pattern under a name of your choosing.

    • Back

      Using this option, you can return to the previous step in the pattern wizard.

    • Finish

      Using this option, you can complete the Pattern Wizard and apply the changes made to the pattern. The initial screen for the pattern wizard appears, where you can edit the pattern again if required.

      Note

      If you have edited a pattern, but not saved it with a name yet, you can call the save dialog by saving the pattern.

    • Cancel

      Using this option, you can end the Pattern Wizard. Any changes made to the pattern are discarded.

Result

You have configured the Information Consumer pattern as required and have saved it for later use.
