Metric TemplatesLocate this document in the navigation structure

A Metric Template is a configuration file specifying which of the metrics shall be displayed by Database Studio. When certain Database Analyzer data of a specific database is opened, a corresponding Metric Template will be applied on these data. Thus, Metric Templates constitute something like predefined views on Database Analyzer data which help you examine the database state and behaviour.

There are basically two different kinds of Metric Templates. Database Studio comes with a set of predefined Named Metric Templates as well as a set of Default Metric Templates. A Default Metric Template is activated when double clicking the CSV file with the same name. A freely defined Named Metric Template is a predefined expert view on some general or specific metrics of database instances. In general it combines metrics of one or more CSV files.

Technically Metric Templates are configuration files which specify which columns from a CSV file on which scale in which color shall be displayed as metric. Named Metric Templates bring several metrics of different CSV files in relation to each other and therefore allow a specific view on the database instance.

Metric Templates reflect actual expert knowledge and can be applied directly to the data from Database Analyzer.

In addition they can be further enhanced according to the actual needs. You can create a reproducible analysis by storing the Metric Templates that were meaningful for you in a certain Database Analyzer project.
