Creating Login TemplatesLocate this document in the navigation structure

Context

You can define templates to use the same logon data for users of different databases, which are then available in all databases of the same server or landscape. You can define templates for the database system administrator, DBM operators, and database users.

Procedure

  1. Choose Up One Level until the desired computer or landscape is displayed in the explorer tree.
  2. In the context menu, choose Login Templates.
  3. Choose New.
  4. Enter a template name.

    To generate the user name from the database name for which you use the login template later, enter <DBNAME> as part of the user name and select Replace With Database Name (for example, SAP<DBNAME>DB).

    Example

    You enter the user name SAP<DBNAME>DB.

    When you use this login template for logging on to the TEST database, SAPTESTDB is used as user name.

    When you use this login template for logging on to the PROD database, SAPPRODDB is used as user name.

  5. Enter the following data.

    User Name

    Users fall into two groups:

    • DBM operators: These users can perform administrative tasks.

    • Database users: Database users can change data in the database.

    The database system administrator (default name DBADMIN) belongs to both groups and has the most extensive authorizations.

    Password

    The database system converts all letters to uppercase.

    To use upper and lower case letters and/or special characters for a user name or a password, select the Case Sensitive checkbox.

    Authentication by OS

    External authentication is currently only available for SAP-internal systems.

    If external authentication has been set up, select this option to log on to the database using your operating system user.

    In SAP systems, you can enable SSL encryption (if configured during installation)

    Details

    To use ORACLE SQL mode instead of the SAP MaxDB internal SQL mode, select SQL Mode Oracle.

  6. Choose Finish.
