Adding a Backup HostLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

You can add a new backup host to a distributed system. You need to do this if you have added a new master host and want it to have its own backup host.

Procedure

  1. Install TREX on the host that you want to add.
  2. Mount the central TREX data directory (UNIX) ordefine it as a network drive (Windows).
  3. Start TREX on the new host.
  4. Start the TREX admin tool on a host that is already configured in the distributed system.
  5. Go to the Landscape Configuration window.
  6. Use Add Host to add the new host.
  7. Select Assign Existing Indexes/Queues to New Slave/Backup Servers.
  8. Configure the new host in the Hosts table as follows:
    1. In the Backup Index/Queue Server for… column, specify the master host to which the host belongs.
    2. In the Base Path column, enter the central TREX data directory on the file server.
  9. Check the configuration. If the check does not find any errors, activate the configuration using Deploy.
