Procedure documentation Mapping Your User to Remote Systems  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Applicable to: remote role assignment, remote delta links, WSRP application sharing

Use

Portal users can enter and map their own their logon information (such as user name and password) to remote-based iViews, just as they can with local iViews. This enables users on one portal (consumer) to access and retrieve secure data from a data source residing on a remote portal (producer) within the federated portal network. User mapping enables single sign-on so that users are not prompted for logon information every time an iView retrieves data from a secure source.

Note

Alternatively, portal administrators can predefine the user mapping for their users by doing so directly on the producer portal (see Single Sign-On). The system administrator must decide for each system if the administrator, end user, or both are responsible for setting the user mapping.

This topic describes how end users can map their logon information to remote systems. This procedure is the same for remote NetWeaver iViews provided through all content usage modes supported by SAP NetWeaver Portal.

Prerequisites

The content administrator has given you mapping permission to the target system (see User Mapping).

Procedure

...

       1.      In the portal masthead, click Personalize.

       2.      In the window that opens, choose User Mapping (Remote Content).

Note

The standard User Mapping option in the User Profile is used to map logon information for local systems residing on the consumer portal. Since most end users do not intuitively know if content is local or remote, the portal administrator should provide users with specific information relating to the organization’s system landscape.

       3.      In the Remote Content Provider dropdown list, select the name of the remote producer portal for which you want to enter your user logon information.

       4.      From the System dropdown list, select the target system.

       5.      In the User and Password fields, enter the system logon definitions. If you are not defined as a user for a system, enter the user name and password of a defined user; you will be mapped to the logon ID of that user.

       6.      Click Save to apply your changes.

To undo your changes before you have saved them, or to remove the current user and password, click Clear.

       7.      Click Close to return to close the window and to the portal.
