This documentation consists of several sections:
Internet Graphics Service (IGS)
The IGS is a server-based engine for generating content (graphical or non-graphical) based on data from an SAP system or an external system. It is being developed with the following objectives:
● Platform-independence
● Connectivity
● Support for a variety of output formats
● Improved scalability/monitoring
For more information on the IGS, see Internet Graphics Service.
Chart Engine
The Chart Engine is a C++ library used to generate business graphics and can be used in the following scenarios:
● In the IGS scenario, it is used as an interpreter in the Internet Graphics Service.
● In the ActiveX control scenario, it is also available as an ActiveX control.
The Chart Engine is available on all SAP NetWeaver platforms.
To find out more read the documentation on the Chart Engine.
Chart Designer
The SAP Chart Designer is a tool for generating customizing settings (for example, colors, shading) for business graphics. The settings can be saved as an XML file and used with the Chart Engine to determine the customizing of charts. The data for the charts is supplied separately - the Chart Designer does not supply the data.
It is particularly useful for branding purposes, for example so that a company can generate graphics with a uniform appearance.
To find out more read the documentation on the Chart Designer.
The Graphical Framework
You can use the related information for maintaining existing applications based on the Graphical Framework.
but we strongly recommend that you use the Internet Graphics Service for developing new applications.
BC SAP Graphics
We no longer recommend using this graphics technology to create applications. Use the functions of the Internet Graphics Service instead.
If you still require detailed documentation for this topic when maintaining existing applications, you can find it in the online documentation for SAP NetWeaver 2004 at
