Use

This function is recommended for structured entry of a cost object hierarchy and for editing cost object hierarchies (such as when you want to reassign cost object nodes). You can also use this function simply to display cost object hierarchies.

Prerequisites

You have defined a cost object profile in Customizing for Product Cost by Period and specified it in the cost object category.

You may also have already entered a cost object hierarchy with the fast entry function (see also: Using the Fast Entry Function for Cost Object Hierarchies ).

Procedure

  1. Choose   Accounting   Controlling   Product Cost Controlling   Cost Object Controlling   Product Cost by Period   Master Data   Cost Object Hierarchy   Edit Cost Object Hierarchy   .

  2. The dialog box Cost Object Hierarchy appears.

  3. If you have already created a cost object hierarchy, enter its name or the name of the subordinate node that you want to edit (or whose substructure you want to edit). Then choose the icon Display or the icon Change .

If you have not yet created a cost object hierarchy, enter the name of the highest cost object node. Then choose the icon Create .

The screen Create (or Display or Change ) Cost Object Hierarchy appears. Within this transaction you can switch between the create, change, and display modes by means of the appropriate icons.

The cost object hierarchy function consists of two screen areas:

  • The left side of the screen contains a hierarchical view of the cost object hierarchy. This part of the screen is called Display Cost Object Hierarchy .

  • The right side of the screen contains the detail data for the cost object nodes. This part of the screen is called Detail Display Cost Object Nodes .

To Insert New Cost Object Nodes

  1. In the screen area Display Cost Object Hierarchy , select the cost object node under which you want to insert the new cost object node.

  2. From the screen area Display Cost Object Hierarchy , go to the icon Insert Cost Object .

  3. In the screen area Detailed Display Cost Object Hierarchy , enter the name and the data for the cost object node.

  4. Save the cost object node.

The cost object node in the hierarchy is displayed in the left screen area.

To Delete a Cost Object Node

  1. In the screen area Display Cost Object Hierarchy , position the cursor on the cost object node.

  2. From the screen area Display Cost Object Hierarchy , go to the icon Delete Cost Object .

  3. Confirm that you want to delete the cost object.

The cost object is deleted from the hierarchy.

Assigning Single Objects

Prerequisites

A given object can only be assigned to one cost object node. If you enter a material without a production process, you cannot assign that material to any other cost object node. If you enter a material with a production process, you cannot assign that combination to any other cost object node.

If you have assigned a material to a product group for product drilldown reporting, you cannot assign that material to a cost object node for repetitive manufacturing.

Procedure

  1. To assign single objects to a cost object node at the lowest level of the hierarchy, select the cost object node in the screen area Display Cost Object Hierarchy by positioning the cursor on the cost object node. From the screen area Display Cost Object Hierarchy , go to the icon Assign Single Objects On/Off .

The display in the right-hand screen area now changes. Detail data on the cost object node is no longer displayed. Instead, you now see the single object assignment . To make an assignment, choose New Entries . Now assign to the cost object node:

  • Material, or

  • Material/ production process (for example, if you want to make the assignment at the level of the production version)

You can make multiple assignments to a cost object node.

  1. Choose Assign Single Objects On/Off . Save your entries.

The assignments are displayed in the left screen area in the hierarchy.

Editing the Settlement Rule

You can create, change, or display the settlement rule for cost object nodes:

  1. Position the cursor on a cost object node and   choose   Edit   Settlement Rule.

  2. Enter the required data (such as the settlement receiver) and save your entries.

Note Note

Both the settlement rules for the cost object nodes in the hierarchy and the settlement rules for the orders (product cost collectors or manufacturing orders) assigned to the hierarchy must have settlement type PER (periodic).

End of the note.

Editing Another Cost Object Hierarchy

To edit another cost object hierarchy, choose   Cost Object Hierarchy   Other Cost Object Hierarchy   .
