The checking scope specifies
Which types of stock/goods receipts/goods issues are to be taken into account in the check
Whether the check is to take into account the replenishment lead time
Whether the check is only to be carried out at plant level, regardless of whether a storage location is specified in the reservation
Example
You assign checking group IN to materials produced in-house .
In the checking scope you specify that the system need not check purchase orders or purchase requisitions for materials with the checking group IN, since they are irrelevant to materials produced in-house.
You assign checking group EX to materials produced externally .
In the checking scope, you specify that the system need not check sales or production orders for materials with the checking group EX, since they are irrelevant to materials produced externally.
The settings for the checking scope, however, not only influence the results of the material availability check, they also affect the speed with which the result can be determined.
