Flagging Material Master Records for Deletion Locate this document in the navigation structure

Use

For a material master record to be deleted by the archive and delete program, it must be flagged for deletion. You can set deletion flags at different organizational levels, for example, at plant level or at sales organization level. The material master record is then deleted at this level and at all lower levels.

Example Example

You set a deletion flag at client level. Since it is the highest hierarchy level, the material master record is deleted at this level and at all lower levels.

You set a deletion flag at plant level. Since it is below client level, the material master record is deleted at plant level and at all lower levels (for example, at storage location level), but not at client level.

End of the example.

Integration

At most companies, the archive and delete program is run at regular intervals by the system administrator. For information on archiving and deleting material master records, see Archiving Material Master Records (LO-MD-MM) in the SAP library documentation CA Application Data Archiving .

Features

When flagging a material master record for deletion, you have the following options:

  • Setting the deletion flag with immediate effect

  • Scheduling the setting of the deletion flag

As an aid, you can choose the materials to be flagged for deletion from a proposal list. This list contains all materials without stocks.

Activities

When you flag a material master record for deletion, the system creates a change document. For more information, see Change Documents .
