You use this activity to create or assign new SFC numbers for a single or multipiece SFC number in the POD. Often, these SFC numbers will be a serial number of the unique work in the process you are building.
Note
You cannot serialize SFC number if it is a member of an SFC group whose status is either Group Created or Sampling Active (see Sampling).
The following table describes rules and settings that you can change for this activity in Activity Maintenance:
Rule |
Setting |
---|---|
GENERATE_ID |
TRUE: Automatically generates new SFC numbers, using the SFC-Serialize next number pattern in Next Number Maintenance FALSE (default): Prompts the operator for the new SFC number Note You can use this number as a serial number for your product. End of the note. |
PLUGIN_URL |
Specifies the plug-in location in the SAP ME folder structure Default value: /COM/SAP/ME/PRODUCTION/CLIENT/SFCSERIALIZEPLUGIN.JSP Caution Any changes to the PLUGIN_URL activity rule setting in Activity Maintenance may result in incorrect display of the plug-in in the POD. End of the caution. |
To serialize an SFC number, proceed as follows:
In the POD, select SFC number in status Active or In Queue at current operation.
Note
You cannot serialize SFC number if it is partially started or partially completed at an operation.
Choose Activities button and then choose SFC Serialize. The system opens the SFC Serialize screen.
The SFC Serialize plug-in displays original SFC numbers selected and a data entry field for the SFC quantity to create new SFC numbers.
Note
Depending on the system settings, the system may provide you with empty fields for manual creation of the new SFC number or a system generated new SFC number. In this case, enter the desired number in corresponding fields in the New SFC Number column.
Choose OK button to close the Serialize SFC screen.
The POD closes the Serialize SFC screen. In the POD, the system replaces the original SFC number with your new SFC numbers. The new SFC numbers are selected. The original SFC number is marked as invalid and remains in the system for tracking and reporting purposes.
Note
Depending on the conventions of your shop floor, the new SFC numbers may be serial numbers.
