You created a summarization hierarchy.
If you want to use parallel processing to shorten the runtime of a data collection run, you should have your system administrator set up a server group and tell you the maximum number of tasks.
To specify which servers the summarization run should run on, choose
.It is recommended that you execute the data collection run after each period-end closing, thus summarizing current data such as target costs, work in process and variances.
If you want to monitor actual costs, it can also be helpful to execute a data collection run during a period before period-end closing activities.
To perform a data collection run:
Choose
.The screen CO Summarization appears.
Enter the following data:
Hierarchy
For a list of summarization hierarchies in the controlling area, press F4.
To see a list of hierarchies that have been summarized, choose
.Subhierarchy
If you only want to summarize part of the hierarchy, choose the arrow symbol button Set Subhierarchy. All fields are listed for which summarization has been carried out (such as the plant or material). Enter the field attributes for which the summarization is to be carried out.
Example
For example, if you enter plant 0001 and material PROD-1, the costs of all orders will be summarized that were created for material PROD-1 in plant 0001.
If you enter only plant 0001, only the costs for all orders in plant 0001 will be summarized.
From Period/Fiscal Year and To Period/Fiscal Year
The values for these periods will be displayed for the objects selected according to the summarization hierarchy. If an object does not have any values in the periods specified, it is considered in principle during data retrieval, but with no values.
Turn on one of the following indicators:
Summarization run
In the summarization run the data for the periods within the specified summarization time frame are reset and recalculated. Data on the summarization object for periods outside of the summarization time frame is retained.
Deletion run
The deletion run deletes all summarization objects created by previous data collections. After that, the hierarchy definition is changeable again.
Hierarchy without data
Set this indicator if you just want the structure of a summarization object without data.
Choose
. This allows colored traffic light symbols to be displayed at hierarchy nodes for which predefined threshold values have been exceeded. You first define the rules for exceptions in Customizing. Here you specify the basis for the threshold values and by how much the threshold value has to be exceeded before a traffic light is set.In the standard system, the indicator Background processing is turned on. If you want to perform the summarization run online, you must turn off this indicator.
Select Parallel Processing if you want to use parallel processing for a data collection run.
The dialog box Parallel Processing appears.
Set the indicator Parallel processing online and enter the following data:
Maximum number of tasks (number of system sessions on the servers)
Number of nodes (task)
Server group
Choose Confirm.
Caution
System resources are utilized in accordance with the number of tasks. For this reason you should limit the number of tasks or only use parallel processing when there are sufficient system resources available.
Choose Execute.
If you have turned off the indicator for background processing, a dialog box appears in which you must confirm the order summarization run.
An overview screen is now displayed that shows the processed nodes of the hierarchy.
You can use the following functions:
Message log
The message log lists any errors that occurred and any information messages that were issued during summarization.
Table statistics
The table statistics specify how many totals records were written during summarization.
