Use

You can use this function in the PI sheet to log actions that the user or the system has performed at an input field. The system logs all values entered, the date and time when they were entered as well as the terminal number and user ID of the user logged on. In this way, you can easily monitor the changes made at an input field.

Prerequisites

In order that the system logs actions by a user or other events at an input field in the PI sheet, you must make the relevant Customizing settings. You can specify whether and which events are logged. In addition, you can specify for every event whether the event to be logged must be confirmed by a signature. If the signature is canceled, the action just triggered is also canceled (for example, the process instruction is not activated).

To do so, go to Customizing for Process Management and choose   Control Recipes/PI Sheets   Control Recipe Destinations   Define and Set Up Control Recipe Destinations   .

Features

The system logs the following events:

  • When a user enters data

  • When a user carries out the Activate or Deactivate function

  • When the system automatically carries out the Activate or Deactivate function

  • When a user carries out the Lock or Unlock function

  • When the system automatically carries out the Lock or Unlock function

  • When a user completes a process step or process instruction

On the Log tab, a list with all events that were logged is displayed. The following is recorded for each event:

  • The date and time when the event was executed

  • A description of the event executed

  • The description of the terminal at which the function was executed

  • The user ID of the user logged on

  • If a signature was required to confirm the entry, the user ID of the signatory along with the date and time when the signature was executed

Activity

To display the logged data, proceed as follows:

  1. Position the cursor on the relevant input field and choose Display properties in the context menu.

  2. On the Properties dialog box, choose the Log tab.
