Use

When maintaining the browser-based PI sheet, the process operator can use a number of different functions. Some of these functions can be executed for the entire PI sheet, others are available for individual process steps.

  • Functions that can be executed for the entire PI sheet can be started as follows:

Via the menu bar in the PI sheet header

    Via the context menu

    • By positioning the mouse pointer outside of input fields, output fields, and pushbuttons and then choose the right mouse button

    • By choosing key combination Shift + F10

  • Functions that refer to individual process steps are only displayed in the context menu of the corresponding process step if they are actually relevant for it. The Display Message function, for example, is only displayed in process steps for which a process message has been defined.

Which functions are available in the context menu also depends on whether you display or maintain the PI sheet. SAP Note 620134 can be used for an extended authorization check for the a.m. functions.

Features

This section provides information about the following:

  • Which functions are available in the browser-based PI sheet

  • Whether a function is available for a process step, a table, or for the entire PI sheet

  • Which functions are available in which mode (display or change mode)

Functions in the Menu Bar

Most of the functions available in the menu bar are identical to the functions in the context menu that relate to the entire PI sheet (see section Functions in the Context Menu ).

Only the menu option Displ. -> Chnge (or Chnge -> Displ. ) is available exclusively in the menu bar. It shows you which mode you are currently in in the PI sheet. You can use this function to switch to the other mode in each case:

  • If the Chnge -> Displ. function is offered, you are currently in change mode. If you choose this function, the system takes you to the display mode.

  • If the Displ. -> Chnge function is offered, you are currently in display mode. If you choose this function, the system takes you to the change mode.

Functions in the Context Menu

The following functions are available in the context menu of the browser-based PI sheet:

( ) Calculate Values This icon always appears to the right of a field if a value is to be calculated by the system. If you choose ( ) , the calculated value is displayed in the corresponding field. If values to which you referred in a calculation formula are changed after the calculation was carried out in the PI sheet, these changes are not taken into account in the formula result. For this reason, the calculated value reported may sometimes not be up-to-date. ( ) The formula used for a calculation can refer to one or more values entered or calculated previously in the PI sheet. For this reason, we recommend maintaining and calculating all preceding values before starting the calculation. If a value is missing in a calculation formula, a corresponding error message is displayed.

Deactivated process steps are not ready to receive input. You may want to deactivate process steps if a process cannot be executed according to plan. This means that some data may not be available but you still want to complete the PI sheet. You can set the PI sheet status to Completed only after all entries have been made and all process steps have been worked through.Process steps that have been deactivated are not taken into account when the PI sheet is checked, and you can therefore set the PI sheet to Completed. Variables contained in the process instruction are not taken into account either. In calculations, for example, the value of the deactivated line would not be included in the calculation.
