Use

The cross-plant standard XStep repository is a central repository for all standard XSteps that you can use in different plants. In this way you can reduce the master data maintenance effort and ensure a standardized way of working in all plants. This greatly simplifies the creation of a global template. This applies above all in connection with the multilingual capability of the XStep texts. See also: Translation of XStep Texts .

To invoke the cross-plant standard XStep repository from the SAP Easy Access Menu, choose   Logistics   Production   Master Data   Cross-Plant Standard XStep Repository   or   Logistics   Production - Process   Master Data   Cross-Plant Standard XStep Repository   .

Integration

The cross-plant standard XStep repository is a separate repository that you activate by defining a reference plant in Customizing.

Recommendation Recommendation

After you have activated the cross-plant repository, SAP recommends that you then only create new standard XSteps there. These standard XSteps can then be used in another plant at any time, as required.

Because the cross-plant standard XStep repository is a separate repository, nomination of a reference plant does not automatically cause the standard XSteps that you have already created for the specified reference plant to be adopted in the cross-plant repository.

To adopt constituents of the plant-dependent repository in the cross-plant repository, you must create this data in the cross-plant repository. The standard XML export functions are available to you for this purpose. See also: Export and Import of Standard XStep Objects

End of the recommendation.

Prerequisites

  • To be able to use the cross-plant XStep repository, in Customizing for Production Planning Process Industry , you must choose   Process Coordination   Execution Steps (XSteps)   Standard XStep Repository   Define Reference Plant for Cross-Plant Standard XStep Repositor   , and there select the plant you want to use as reference plant. With the selection, you activate the cross-plant standard XStep repository.

The reference plant is a technical aid that is needed only to release the necessary characteristic groups for process instructions and process messages.

    Note Note

The reference plant must contain all characteristics that are also used in other plants to define XSteps.

    End of the note.
  • You must have released at least the following characteristic groups for process instructions and process messages for the plant that you have specified as the reference plant.

    • Characteristic group PPPI_01 Process Message Characteristics

    • Characteristic group PPPI_02 Process Instruction Characteristics

    • All characteristic groups created by you in the customer namespace

  • The Customizing activity to activate the cross-plant repository can also be found in Customizing for Production under   Basic Data   Execution Steps   Standard XStep Repository.

Features

Instead of the plant-dependent repository, you can now use the cross-plant standard XStep repository as the central repository for your XSteps. With the plant-dependent standard XStep repository, you must create your own standard XSteps for each plant. If you use the cross-plant standard XStep repository, you only need to create a standard XStep once centrally. You can then use it in any number of plants.
