GLN Table Locate this document in the navigation structure

Definition

The Global Location Number (GLN) uniquely identifies different business objects. These objects can be business partners (customers, vendors, and so on), physical locations (shipping points, receiving points, storage locations, and so on), as well as organizational units (purchasing and sales organizations, and so on).

Even though the objects are used in business processes, they can only be identified by means of a specific object key, and not by a GLN. To enable them to be identified by a GLN, the relevant object must be assigned a GLN.

Use

The GLN table stores the GLNs for instances of SAP objects. The system reads this table during various processes to determine the GLN for a specific SAP object.

The following SAP objects are supported in EDI processes (with the corresponding roles):

  • Purchasing organization (sold-to party)

  • Sales organization (vendor from vendor view)

  • Plant (ship-to party)

  • Shipping point (goods sender)

The check table for the GLN table stores the structure of the SAP objects that are assigned a GLN. When the GLNs are assigned, this table functions as a check table for the data that is to be assigned. The check table contains the following entries:

  • Purchasing organization

  • Sales organization

  • Plant

  • Shipping point
