You can use this data assembly method to collect, validate, and trace data for assembled components for each instance of an SFC number or a product being built. This data is typically entered through barcode scanning or manually by manufacturing personnel.

As components are assembled onto the product, the system records the assembly data for each component.

The assembly data for a component can be defined at the Material or BOM Component level. These data field values are collected to provide genealogy for each component that needs to be tracked (see Data Field Definition and Assignment). A distinct SFC Assembly record is created and updated as the manufacturing process proceeds and higher level assembly of components occurs. The system traces all actions that take place on an SFC number such as addition of BOM and non-BOM components, removal or replacement of specific component data until the product is finished (see As-Built Configuration).
