Result

The result of a hold depends on the object you place on hold, the type of hold you place, and the setting of the SFC numbers on Hold Can Be Started system rule. See the table below for details:

Object on Hold

Result of the Hold SFC Number

SFC

Operators cannot perform activities on an SFC number if the status of the SFC number is Hold and the SFC on Hold Can Be Started system rule is set to False. This system rule can be overridden at the operation level.

If a future hold is assigned to an SFC number, the status of the SFC number will be changed to Hold as soon as the SFC number has been placed In Queue at the future hold operation.

The hold type determines the relevant step. Immediate holds apply to all steps the SFC number has not completed. Future holds will be applied to the SFC number selected in the future hold operation browse.

Material, routing, or shop order

The material, routing, or shop order you place on hold will not allow more SFC numbers to be released to the shop floor while the hold is in effect.

SFC numbers already released are not affected unless you specifically place a hold on them as well.
