You use this activity to create and maintain routings in the system (see Routing).

This activity allows you to do the following:

  • Use graphical and tabular modes for creating routings (see Creating Routing Steps in the Graphical Mode)

  • Define the sequence of routing steps

  • Use operations with substeps in a Planning or Production routing

  • Associate a coded script with any branch in a routing

  • Configure nested routings

  • Configure disposition routings

  • Enter custom data values (see Custom Data)

  • Assign a routing to one or more materials for use with Production shop orders ( see Material Assignment to Routing)

  • Assign a routing to a BOM/version for use with Production shop orders

Rules

The following table describes rules and settings that you can change for this activity in Activity Maintenance:

ERP_REP_STEP_STARTSEQ_INCR

010,10 (default): Sets the starting step ID to 010 and the increment value to 10 for the ERP reporting step

The starting sequence value must be a positive integer. The increment value must be a positive integer. A comma is the only valid separator.

STEP_START_SEQ_INCREMENT

010,10 (default): Sets the starting step ID to 010 and the increment value to 10 for the routing steps

SUBSTEP_START_SEQ_INCREMNT

010,5 (default): Sets the starting substep ID to 010 and the increment value to 5 for the routing substeps

USE_STEP_ID_FOR_SEQUENCE

This rule allows you to use step IDs as sequence numbers for routing steps of complex routings with a lot of loops.

YES: Parses the Step ID field value to a number and uses it as the Sequence field value for the routing step.

NO (default): Assigns the sequence number to the routing steps when routing steps are sorted in a logical order. The sequence starts at 1 and is increased by 1.

Fields

The following tables describe fields requiring explanation:

Routing Type

The type of routing being defined

Production Routing: The routing used to produce a material

Note Note

You can release SFC numbers only to the routing of the Production type.

Special Routing: The routing containing at least one special operation. Only a Special routing can contain a special operation. The first step on a special routing must be a special operation. You assign a special routing to operations in Operation Maintenance.

Disposition Function Routing: The routing used by the system to represent a disposition function.

SFC-Specific Routing: The routing used specially for a selected SFC number. This routing type is created in Dynamic Routing Maintenance.

Sample Routing: The routing used by the system to process SFC numbers selected for sampling (see Sample Plan Maintenance).

Configurable: The routing for a configurable material that contains all the master data for all options that can be selected to build this product.

Shop Order-Specific Routing: The routing used to define a product manufacturing process for a specific shop order.

The system abbreviates the routing type as follows: Production routing – U, NC routing – N, Special routing – C, and Shop order-specific routing – H.

Copied from Routing/Version

These fields appear if this routing record was initially created by retrieving an existing routing record and saving it with a different name or version.

Status

Releasable: Allows users to release SFC numbers to the routing

Frozen: Allows users to release SFC numbers to the routing

Users should not change the routing record.

Obsolete: Prevents users from releasing SFC numbers to the routing

The routing is no longer used.

Hold: Prevents users from releasing SFC numbers to the routing

The status is temporary. When the hold issue is resolved, users can change the status of the record.

Note Note

If the SFC Place Hold activity was used to place a hold on the routing, the field is read only and the hold ID is displayed next to this field. Use the SFC Release Hold activity to release it.

New: The routing is in a newly-created state and not ready for releasing SFC numbers against it.

Note Note

The following statuses are not applicable for the Routing Maintenance and should not be used:

  • Hold Consec NC

  • Hold SPC Viol

  • Hold SPC Warn

  • Hold Yield Rate

Tabular Routing

Selected: Creates routing steps in the tabular mode

Deselected: Creates routing steps in the graphical mode

Relaxed Routing Flow

Selected: Allows a non-serialized SFC to be in work at more than one operation on a single routing at the same time. Allows the quantity to flow down the routing in the natural manner that physical product flows down your production line. May be used with Use Shop Order ID on First Release in Material Maintenance (see Relaxed Routing Flow and Shop Order ID).

Note Note

Released quantity will be added to the same SFC until the SFC quantity equals the lot size of the material.

Note Note

Relaxed Routing Flow is not selected when importing from ERP. You must either select the checkbox manually or customize the SAPMEINT interface to set the field automatically on import.

Deselected: Does not allow an SFC to be in work at more than one operation on a single router at the same time. For an SFC to proceed to another step on the router, the entire SFC quantity must be completed at the previous step.

Effective Start Date

The validity start date of the routing

Note Note

This field is visible only when the system rule Enable Replication of ME Routing to ERP is set to Yes or Yes, with Change Management, when Replication to ERP in Routing Maintenance is set to Yes (see ERP Integration Rules), and the routing type is Production Routing.

Effective End Date

The validity end date of the routing

Note Note

This field is visible only when the system rule Enable Replication of ME Routing to ERP is set to Yes or Yes, with Change Management, when Replication to ERP in Routing Maintenance is set to Yes (see ERP Integration Rules), and the routing type is Production Routing.

Document

Prints the document when an SFC number is processed on the routing

Note Note

Documents are defined in Document Maintenance (see Document Maintenance).

Disposition Group

The group of disposition functions displayed to the operator at the end of a routing if no routings (such as Scrap or Done) have been assigned to the last step of the routing

BOM/Version

The BOM that contains components that you assign to a substep where components must be assembled

Note Note

Use this BOM only if you want to assign components to substeps. If you have specified the BOM, the system ignores the assembly operation in the BOM definition for the components.

Replication to ERP

Use System Rule Setting: The system uses the setting of the Enable Replication of ME Routing to ERP system rule.

Yes: Allows you to export a routing from SAP ME to SAP ERP

No: Does not allow you to export a routing from SAP ME to SAP ERP

Note Note

Yes and No values override the settings of the Enable Replication of ME Routing to ERP system rule.
