Background documentationShop Workbench

You use this activity to view the SFC number's master data information and related activities on one screen in a configurable tree like structure.

You can view and perform actions on the following SFC‑specific objects:

  • Operations

  • Buyoffs

  • Components

  • Data Collection (DC) groups

  • Work instructions

  • Tool numbers

For more information, see Working with the Shop Workbench.

Features

The Shop Workbench can be used for the following purposes:

  • When a production operator begins work, used with the POD selection and the work list to select SFC numbers, he or she can view information about the SFC number, select operations, view information related to the operations, and then begin production activities

  • When a production operator performs production activities, used to quickly access other POD functionality such as Work Instruction display, buyoffs, log tools, log data value for data parameters in a DC group, or assembly components.

  • When shop floor supervision monitors the status of work on the shop floor, used to view the overall status and manufacturing data about an SFC number

  • When quality personnel review production results and perform buyoffs, used with Work Instruction Viewer, NC Log Report, and Log Buyoff to efficiently complete the quality inspection and record tasks

  • When a manufacturing engineer analyzes production data, used to provide a summary of information about an SFC number and access to related details such as tooling, collected data, components, and nonconformances

It can be used with or without the Work List in the POD, or as an alternative to the Operation List.

Process

The following figure illustrates the primary flow of a production operator’s actions when utilizing the Shop Workbench in the default POD — Shop Workbench to support the display and transactions upon an SFC number.

Constraints

  • You cannot configure both Shop Workbench and Operation list in the same POD.

  • You cannot select multiple operations from the tree.

  • The icons shown next to the operation node of the tree-like structure are view only.

  • There are no transaction capabilities on the nodes through double click.
