A unique manufactured or purchased part that is processed or consumed on the shop floor.

Shop Order Type

The order type selection supports the assignment of a routing and bill of material (BOM) for each type of order that may be produced on the shop floor. Upon release of a shop order these values are assigned providing they have not been received via the production order download. The order type assignment causes features within SAP ME to be used and affects the order processing. As an example, an order type of RMA allows the assignment of RMA shop order and RMA SFC data types to a shop order. These data type values are then collected for the shop order upon creation and upon the SFC numbers as they are assigned to the RMA shop order.

Lot Size

The lot size defined for the material is the amount of standard quantity of the material that will be received from a plant or supplier or issued as the standard quantity to the production process. The lot size is used during the receipt of floor stock on the shop floor and during the creation of SFC numbers for a shop order. If the lot size is one and the Qty Restriction is only 1.0, this represents a serialized SFC number or inventory ID. It represents product that has a unique identifier for one piece of the material. When the lot size is greater than one, and the Qty restriction is Any Number or Whole Number, this represents a non-serialized SFC number or inventory ID. In an SFC number or inventory ID of this quantity, SAP ME is tracking the number of pieces without a unique identifier for each piece. In this tracking, the unique ID is tracking a homogenous quantity of material rather than a unique piece. The quantity produced or quantity consumed all share the same production costs and specifications.

Process Lot

Product can begin the manufacturing process as non-serialized but anytime during manufacturing a unique identifier can be assigned to each piece to create serialized SFC numbers. If this occurs, the SFC numbers can be placed into a process lot. A process lot can be a group of SFC numbers of the same material, similar material, or a group of materials and to which a unique identification process lot number has been assigned. The process lot number will be used to identify the list of SFC numbers contained within it. The process lot number can be used to transact within SAP ME while maintaining the history, activity records, and all related records to each SFC number.

Quantity Multiplier

The quantity multiplier represents the planned number of pieces that will be produced for the material. This field is used primarily in the semiconductor business sector. Typically, each wafer is represented as one SFC number with a quantity of one when it begins the manufacturing process. During the manufacturing process, the planned number of die that will be produced on a wafer is known. At the point in the process where the number of dies is realized, the SFC quantity will be multiplied by the quantity multiplier thus updating the lot size of the SFC number. The quantity change of an SFC number can be accomplished via an activity hook that is assigned to an operation or through a manual activity.

Time-Based Component

A time-based component material type indicates that the material is assembled onto a product on a specific resource during a specific time period. A time-based component has a unique inventory ID loaded onto a resource and SFC numbers are processed on this resource. A time-based component can be normal, splice, or continuous. A normal time-based component has an inventory ID that is empty and replenished with another inventory ID. A splice time-based component has an inventory ID that is loaded on a reel and before the inventory ID is empty, another inventory ID is spliced onto the same reel. In this case, both inventory IDs are recorded until the consumption tolerance has been reached. In the case of a continuous time-based component, an inventory ID continues to be logged even though the manufacturing process has consumed it. This is the case where the component has residue that remains on the resource until the resource is cleaned and the entire configuration is unloaded.

Integration

You define numbering patterns that uniquely identify floor stock material and product produced in Next Numbering Maintenance (see Numbering Patterns).

You define material that will be assembled onto a product via a resource in Slot Configuration Maintenance (see Slot Configuration Maintenance).

You define material that will be assembled onto a product in BOM Maintenance (see BOM Maintenance).

You can use long material numbers (see Transfer of Long Material Number).

SAP ME ERP Integration

If you use the SAPMEINT component, see Material Transfer.
