This section describes the process of building the product on the shop floor using predefined shop floor master data.

You can create customer orders and shop orders for each product manually or import shop orders from an ERP system. When this shop order authorization is created or received, it contains a specified quantity of the product to be built on the shop floor (see Customer Order and Shop Order).

When you release a shop order for a product, the system creates an SFC number for each unit demanded (see SFC Number). For example, if you want the floor to build five printers, SAP ME creates five SFC numbers.

If required, you can change an SFC number using an engineering change order (see Engineering Change Order (ECO)).
