Background documentationComplete

You use this activity to indicate that physical work has been completed on an SFC number. The shop floor personnel submit the Complete action after all physical work on the product has been completed. This action is recorded as an activity log record for the SFC number and is used to build the genealogy of the product. The activity provides validations at an operation and resource to confirm that the SFC number has completed all steps during the manufacturing at this operation.

The Complete activity resets the selected resource from Productive to the Pending status when the last active SFC number is completed for the resource and the system has received a message from SAP Plant Maintenance that the resource is now scheduled for preventive maintenance due to a measurement point usage counter. SFC numbers in the queue at an operation that is using this resource, cannot be started until the resource is in a Productive status.

Note Note

The Complete activity changes the routing step status to Complete Pending for an SFC number in any of the following conditions:

  • There are open buyoffs for the SFC number

  • The SFC number is a member of an SFC group whose sampling results are not completed

  • There is a sample plan applicable for the SFC number at this point

SFC numbers in Complete Pending status do not move to the next production operation and cannot be completed until any required sampling results are reported (see Sampling) and all buyoffs are closed.

End of the note.
Rules

The following table describes rules and settings that you can change for this activity:

Rule

Setting

QUICK_COMPLETE

TRUE: Tells the system that the operator has started and completed the selected SFC number, shop order, or process lot

Do not need to associate another button with the Complete (PR510) activity.

FALSE (default): Only tells the system that the operator has completed the selected SFC number, shop order, or process lot. Start must already have been accomplished

IGNORE_COMPLETE

Determines whether to display an error when the operation or step is already completed or if the operator does not have the activity permission

YES: Skips the Complete action if the operator does not have permission to execute this activity, and ignores Complete Operations/Steps

NO: Cancels the Complete action and displays an error message if a selected step is already Complete or Complete Pending, or if the operator does not have permission for this activity

CONFIRM_PROCESSLOT_OPTIONS

Default value: CONTINUE, REMOVE, CANCEL

Note Note

If you set multiple values, a dialog box is displayed with the values shown as action buttons.

End of the note.

REMOVE: Removes selected SFC numbers from the process lot and completes them

CANCEL: Does not remove the selected SFC numbers from the process lot and does not complete them

CONTINUE: Completes the selected SFC numbers without removing them from the process lot

IGNORE_NOT_ACTIVE

YES (default): Ignores the SFC numbers that are not Active at the selected operation, and looks at the CONFIRM_PROCESSLOT_OPTIONS activity rule to determine how to process selected SFC numbers that are Active at the operation for a process lot. This rule also applies when a shop order is used as the input.

NO: Displays an error message and ignores any SFC numbers if any selected SFC number is not Active at the operation for a process lot. This rule also applies to a shop order.

RETURN_AUTO_MERGE

NEVER (default): Does not automatically merge the quantity of an SFC that was automatically split off during nonconformance dispositioning.

ASK: Presents a dialog box that allows the operator to merge the quantity of an SFC that was automatically split off during nonconformance dispositioning. Applicable only to routings with relaxed routing flow.

ALWAYS: Automatically merges the quantity of an SFC that was automatically split off during nonconformance dispositioning. Applicable only to routings with relaxed routing flow.

For more information, see Relaxed Routing Flow and NC Dispositioning

Processing of a Partial Process Lot

When some SFC numbers in a process lot are not Active at the operation (partial process lot) and the activity rule IGNORE_NOT_ACTIVE is set to YES, then the system acts as follows depending on the CONFIRM_PROCESSLOT_OPTIONS activity rule settings:

  • CONTINUE: Leaves all SFC numbers in the process lot and performs the Complete action for the Active SFC numbers at the operation

  • REMOVE: Removes the selected Active SFC numbers from the process lot and performs the Complete action for them

  • CANCEL: Cancels the Complete action and displays an informational message

  • If left blank, displays dialog with Continue, Remove and Cancel buttons

  • If two or more of nonblank settings are selected, displays a dialog with the specified settings as action buttons

If the activity rule IGNORE_NOT_ACTIVE is set to NO, the system cancels the Complete action and displays an error message.

Processing of the Partial Shop Order

When the user completes a shop order where not all SFC numbers are Active at the operation, the system acts as follows:

If the activity rule IGNORE_NOT_ACTIVE is set to NO, the system cancels the Complete action, and displays an informational message.

If the activity rule IGNORE_NOT_ACTIVE is set to YES, the system leaves all of the SFC numbers in the shop order and proceeds with the Complete action.
