Process documentationSetting Up Return Material Authorization (RMA)

You can use this process to set up RMA in SAP ME (without SAP ERP integration).

Process

  1. In Routing Maintenance, you create a routing to process a return material on the shop floor (see Routing Maintenance).

  2. In Next Number Maintenance, you create a numbering patterns for RMA.

There are two different numbering patterns: one is for the RMA number itself and the other one is for RMA SFC numbers (see Numbering Patterns).

  3. In Data Field Definition Maintenance and Data Field Assignment Maintenance, you define the types of information that can be collected during the RMA process in Shop Order Maintenance (see Data Field Definition and Assignment).

There are two different data types: one for the RMA shop order and the other one is for the RMA SFC numbers.

  4. In Shop Order Maintenance, you create a shop order for the return material (see Shop Order Maintenance).

  5. On the Serial/SFC & RMA tab page of Shop Order Maintenance, you enter data about the return and add SFC numbers, if needed.

  6. In Shop Order Release, you release the RMA shop order.

    Note Note

An RMA shop order can be released automatically using the web service tag ShopOrderReleaseInfo/Release.

    End of the note.
