The following procedure includes steps that the operator might perform collecting environmental data for SFC numbers at the start and end of an operation.

Prerequisites

  • You have configured Data Collection and SPC and defined the following objects:

    SAP ME Object

    Object Name

    Comments/Configuration

    Material

    ACME_WIDGET

    associated with the WIDGET routing

    Operation

    MAKE_WIDGET

    Routing

    WIDGET

    Contains the operation MAKE_WIDGET; assigned to the ACME_WIDGET material

    SPC Chart

    PART_TEMP_XBAR_R

    Main tab page of SPC Chart Maintenance:

    • Chart TypeXbar & R

    • Subgroup Size — 3

    • Max Plot Points — 30

    • Max Data Age (Days) — 365

    Primary Chart Details tab page:

    • Control Limit OptionsCalculated

    • Sigma Coefficient — 3

    • Upper Spec Limit — 72

    • Target — 70

    • Lower Spec Limit — 68

    • Display Spec Limits on Chart — selected

    • Enable Trend Rules — selected

    For more information, see Setting Up Data Collection and Setting Up Statistical Process Control (SPC).

  • You have created a new Operation type POD and associated the Start and Complete buttons with DC Group List (DC_LIST_DISPLAY) (see Operation PODs and DC Group List).

  • You have created and released 2 SFC numbers for the material ACME_WIDGET (see Create and Release SFC).

Procedure

  1. Open the Operation type POD configured for data collection.

  2. Enter the MAKE_WIDGET in the Operation field.

  3. Enter the first SFC number.

  4. Choose Start.

    The DC Group List plug-in appears.

  5. Select a row for the DC group ENV_PARMS_START.

  6. Choose DC Collect.

    The Data Collection Entry plug-in appears.

  7. Enter 70 for Part Temperature.

  8. Enter 45 for Ambient Rel. Humidity.

  9. Save your entries.

  10. Choose Close in the DC Group List plug-in.

    The SFC number's status changes to Active (see SFC Number).

  11. Choose DC Collect in the POD.

    The DC Group List plug-in appears.

  12. Select a row for the DC group ENV_PARMS_COMPLETE.

    The DC Collect button in the DC Group List plug-in is not enabled.

  13. Select a row for the DC group TEMP_ANYTIME.

  14. Choose DC Collect in the DC Group List plug-in.

    The Data Collection Entry plug-in appears.

  15. Enter 71 for Part Temperature.

  16. Save your entries.

    SPC Display pop-up window appears.

  17. Close the SPC Display pop-up window.

  18. Repeat steps 14 –17 two times with the values of 71.3 and 71.5.

  19. Choose Close in the DC Group List plug-in.

  20. Choose Complete in the POD.

    The DC Group List plug-in appears.

  21. Select a row for the DC group ENV_PARMS_COMPLETE.

  22. Choose DC Collect in the DC Group List plug-in.

    The Data Collection Entry plug-in appears.

  23. Enter 71 for Part Temperature.

  24. Enter 43 for Ambient Rel. Humidity.

  25. Save your entries.

  26. Choose Close in the DC Group List plug-in.

    The SFC number's status changes to Complete (see SFC Number).

  27. Enter the second number of the SFCs created.

  28. Choose Start.

    The DC Group List plug-in appears.

  29. Select a row for the DC group ENV_PARMS_START.

  30. Choose DC Collect.

    The Data Collection Entry plug-in appears.

  31. Enter 71 for Part Temperature.

  32. Enter 45 for Ambient Rel. Humidity.

  33. Save your entries.

  34. Choose Close in the DC Group List plug-in.

    The SFC number's status changes to Active.

  35. Choose DC Collect in the POD.

    The DC Group List plug-in appears.

  36. Select a row for the DC group ENV_PARMS_COMPLETE.

    The DC Collect button in the DC Group List plug-in is not enabled.

  37. Select a row for the DC group TEMP_ANYTIME.

  38. Choose DC Collect in the DC Group List plug-in.

    The Data Collection Entry plug-in appears.

  39. Enter 71 for Part Temperature.

  40. Save your entries.

  41. Repeat steps 38 – 40 two times with the values of 72 and 73.5.

    The SPC Display pop-up window appears.

    The SPC chart PART_TEMP_XBAR_R contains an alarm indicator that a trend rule has been matched.
