Transfer of Long Material Number

The standard SAP ERP material number field uses the domain MATNR, which has an input, output, and database length of 18 characters.

The long material number (MATNR_LONG or MATNR_EXT) is a normal 18-character material number plus 22 additional characters. This enables customers for whom 18 characters are not sufficient to use 40-character material numbers.

The following SAPMEINT integration points support the long material number:

Inbound using IDocs:
- Transfer of Material using the IDoc MATMAS05 (see Material Transfer)
- Transfer of BOM (see Transfer of Bill of Material (BOM))
- Transfer of Routing (see Transfer of Routing from SAP ERP to SAP ME)

Outbound using BAPIs:

Prerequisites

SAP S/4HANA on-premise edition

On the Change View “Field Length Extension” screen, you have selected the Extended Material Number checkbox (transaction FLETS).

If Extended Material Number is enabled in S/4HANA (FLETS transaction), make sure that the Extended Material Number checkbox is selected when executing SAPMEINT Standard Interfaces or SAPMEINT Migration CTC tasks.
