Operation
PODs are used in high technology, automotive electronic assembly, medical devices, and printed circuit board (PCB) assembly. These PODs queue SFC numbers at specific operations in the manufacturing process. An operator works on one or more SFC numbers
at an operation. Operations are being performed sequentially and routing operation sequence is enforced. The operator needs to log a resource for traceability during manufacturing. Operators can assemble components, collect data parameters, view work instructions, and log nonconformances. The primary
advantage of these PODs is the ability of the operator to work effectively on multiple SFC numbers at an operation. These PODs provide access to the key lists and data entry plug-ins used on a daily basis.
Recommendation
Operation POD can be used to benefit a simple or repeating assembly manufacturing process, for example, for a circuit board.
The system loads the following Operation PODs:
Default Operation POD
POD - Operation
(DEF_OPER_POD
) activity is associated with this POD.
Operation Touch POD
Touch POD - Operation
(DEF_OPER_TOUCH_POD
) activity is associated with this POD.
Default Integrated POD
POD - Integrated
(DEF_INTEGRATED_POD
) activity is associated with this POD.
Default Visual Test and Repair POD
POD - Visual Test and Repair
(DEF_VTR_POD
) activity is associated with this POD.
For more information, see Visual Test and Repair (VTR) POD.
The predefined Operation PODs display different buttons and have different POD button activities associated with these buttons. For more information, see POD Button Activities.
If you are going to modify the predefined Operation PODs, you need your POD to include at least the following plug-ins:
An NC client to log NCs against SFC numbers: Log NC
(with NC Data Entry
and NC Selection
)
A Work List
to display the SFC numbers and their current status (see POD Work List)
Plug-ins to collect data (see Data Collection Entry and DC Group List)
Plug-ins to perform assembly (see Component List and Assembly Point (Assemble Components))
POD Selection plug-ins (see POD Selection Operation 1 Row Plug-In, POD Selection Operation 2 Rows Plug-In)
You can also include the following plug-ins:
Tooling plug-ins (see Tool Group List and Log Tool Entry)
Reports (see Reporting)
Additional activities (see POD Button Activities)
