You can use this process to configure your production routings to allow non-serialized SFC numbers to be in work at more than one operation at the same time. This allows an SFC number to flow down a routing in the natural manner that physical product flows down your production line. Operators can complete partial quantity of a non-serialized SFC number at any step on the relaxed routing.
Note
A partial quantity will be completed out of a simultaneous group only if that quantity has been completed at every other step within the group.
If you use the Auto-Split and Auto-Merge functionality, operators can also disposition a partial quantity of an SFC.
In Material Maintenance
, set the Lot Size
field for your material to a quantity greater than one. Set the Qty Restriction
field to Any Number
or Whole Number
.
In POD Maintenance
, retrieve the POD you want to use and on the POD Selection
tab page, select the Show Quantity
checkbox. The Quantity
field displays in the POD, allowing operators to enter a quantity less than the full SFC quantity in order to start, process, and complete the partial quantity of the SFC at that operation.
Note
To limit the number of SFC numbers created for a shop order, set the material’s lot size to equal or exceed the build quantity of the shop order. If build quantity is unpredictable, set the lot size to a large number. For example, 999999999
or greater.
In Routing Maintenance
, you select the Relaxed Routing Flow
checkbox for all production routings where you want to use relaxed flow.
If desired, on the Build
tab page in Material Maintenance
, you select the Use Shop Order ID on First Release
checkbox. The system uses the shop order ID in place of the SFC number when you first release quantity for the material to your production line.
If you want operators to disposition SFC numbers from your relaxed production routing, in Activity Maintenance
you retrieve the NC_DATA_ENTRY
activity and set the AUTO_SPLIT
activity rule to ALWAYS
or ASK
. Retrieve the PR510
(Complete
) activity and set the AUTO_MERGE
activity rule to ALWAYS
or ASK
.
Note
Operators can also manually split and merge partial quantities with SFC Split
and SFC Merge
.
Note
You can apply the AUTO_SPLIT
activity rule to the relaxed routings only. For more information, see SAP Note 2271728.
