Procedure

  1. On the initial screen of BOM Maintenance, enter the name of the BOM, its version, and other required data:

    Field

    Description

    ERP BOM

    Related to SAP ME ERP Integration (see SAP ME ERP Integration (SAPMEINT))

    The BOM number in SAP ERP (see Bill of Material (BOM))

    BOM Type

    Identifies the source of the BOM for an object

    Master (default): Allows you to edit components with no restrictions, if the BOM has not been used

    Shop Order: Allows you to create and edit a shop order-specific BOM

    SFC: Allows you to create and edit an SFC-specific BOM

    Note Note

    If an SFC number has been released, then the SFC-specific BOM is in limited edit mode.

    Configurable: Allows you to view a master BOM transferred from SAP ERP containing components for all options and variants that can be selected to build this product

    Find BOM for Shop Order

    Allows to select BOM for a specific shop order.

    Appears when you select Shop Order as a BOM type.

    Valid From

    BOM validity start date. The value appears only if it was defined in SAP ERP.

    Status

    New: You cannot use this BOM to release SFC numbers, but you can change this BOM record. This BOM record is new and not ready for production.

    Releasable: You can use this BOM when releasing SFC numbers.

    Frozen: You can use this BOM when releasing SFC numbers. You should not change this BOM record.

    Obsolete: You cannot use this BOM to release SFC numbers. This BOM is no longer used.

    Hold: You cannot use this BOM to release SFC numbers. This status is temporary. When the hold issue is resolved, you can change the status of this record.

    Filter by Component

    Specifies the component to be used as a filter for filling the table upon retrieval

    Current Version

    If selected, this version of the BOM is the current version.

    BOM Template

    If selected, you can use this BOM as a template for creating other BOMs.

    Valid From

  2. Save your entries.

    Note that you must save the BOM header record before adding any component rows to the BOM.

  3. On the Main tab page of BOM Maintenance, add one or more components to this BOM by inserting new rows in the table. When you insert a new row, the Component Details screen will be displayed to enter the component details record.

    Assy Sequence

    The assembly order of this component

    Component/Version

    The component and the version making up this BOM

    Assy Operation

    The operation where operators or machines assemble this component into its parent assembly

    Ref Des

    The reference designator

    Assy Qty

    The quantity of the defined components that you need to assemble

    Component Type

    Displays the type of component. For more information, see Adding BOM Components

    Details

    Displays the Component Details screen

  4. On the Custom Data tab page, enter the required data.

  5. If required, perform the following actions by choosing More...:

    Description

    BOM Report

    OK: Opens the BOM Report in a new screen, passes the BOM/version into the report where an automatic retrieve occurs

    Create BOM Copy

    OK: Creates a copy of the retrieved BOM/version to a new BOM/version or the same BOM/different version. No validation occurs during the Copy BOM action.

    Note Note

    If any fields except for BOM or Version have been changed prior to the Copy BOM action, an error is displayed and the Copy BOM action does not occur.

    Create Component Copy

    OK: Creates a copy of the component row selected, and the Component Details screen appears

    Renumber

    OK: Renumbers the sequence number in the component table so it is in sequence order based on the ASSY_SEQ_INCREMENT activity rule

  6. Save your entries.
