Aging data is a common practice of taking salary survey data from a survey provider with a specific effective date and multiplying it by a pay movement factor to bring the data forward to either today's or a future date.

For example, assume that pay movement or pay increases are averaging 3% a year. If you use a salary data point from a source with an effective date of one year ago, you should increase that number by 3%.
