approval rule (AP-CCM)

SRM-Catalog Content Management (AP-CCM)

A rule that determines which status is set for an item when it is mapped from one catalog to another in SAP Catalog Authoring Tool.

An approval rule consists of a permitted absolute or relative difference, which applies to the value of a particular item characteristic, and a status. If the actual difference between the new value of an updated item and the old value of that item exceeds the permitted difference, SAP Catalog Authoring Tool gives the item the status in the approval rule. The item must then be approved manually before it can be published in a catalog. If the actual difference does not exceed the permitted difference, SAP Catalog Authoring Tool gives the item the default status that has been defined for the catalog.

Example

The default status for a catalog is Approved. You define a rule for the Amount characteristic. In the rule, you enter 5% as the permitted difference, and To Be Approved as the status. The system automatically approves items in the catalog whose prices change by 5% or less, and sets the status of items whose prices change by more than 5% to To Be Approved.
